1) Rams
I have looked and looked at all the top teams and find it hard not to put Rams as the #1 team. Strengths: WR depth has it all and up and coming players with Shepherd, and Lockett. Very strong LB, DL Corp. And of course Russell Wilson with no Marshawn takes on more of a Passing Role I feel too. Not a lot to not like here. Weaknesses: Not a lot of DL depth in case of bye week or injuries, and DB lineup isn't the greatest. But let's be honest we are nitpicking here.
2) Dolphins
Dolphins have a lot to like here. I am concerned about AJ Green and Carson Palmer with potential injuries or not looking the sharpest. So this #2 preseason ranking is contingent on the two concerns working themselves out. But love this team for the most part top to bottom. Strengths: Great WR and RB corp. Has a great LB corp as well with Bowman and Mosely leading the charge. Weakness: I'm a little concerned about the TE's (Green and Ebron) here and as well as the DL's. If he loses some games out the gate will be due to the lack of firepower at DL and TE.
3) Ravens
This one was tough for me. Because I'm loving a lot of what the Ravens team has to offer. But the RB position here is a bit of a concern for me. Overall I think this team stays in the top 5 with everything else it has going for it, most of the season. Strengths: Obviously at WR and all his defense and QB. Weakness: Some question marks at TE a little because we don't know what we will get with Jimmy Graham lately. And like I said before not sure if this RB corp of Forte, Vereen and Perkins quite does it for me.
4) Saints
I think this team is really balanced in a lot of areas. Doesn't have a huge advantage at one position really. But has most of his basis covered here. As long as no major injuries happen to Melvin Gordon or TY Hilton this team will be making some noise in the season. Strengths: Has a lot of depth at LB and RB. Weaknesses: I'd have to say that the DB's and TE's have me a little concerned. Those are the positions that might be this teams downfall for now.
5) Seahawks
This team has put together a sneaky good team. Not one that is going to win by a lot of points. But enough points to surprise you. Love the RB backfield of Crowell, Miller and Foster. As long as Kelvin Benjamin is healthy and Green-Beckham can play up to potential in Philly this team will be up there in the playoff hunt for a top 6 seed. Strengths: I'd say RB and the DB corp are the strengths here. Weaknesses: We'd have to point out the lack of top depth at WR and the firepower this team really needs at LB. So those are a few concerns but not enough to keep this team from winning.
6) Bears
This team def is going in the right direction when it comes to drafting players and letting them develop a little and see what happens. David Johnson is a great example of this. Big Ben and David Johnson are the focal points of this team. The LB corp is really nice too. Most concerning for me on this team is the WR setup with Steven Johnson going down with injury. Outside of Landry. This team could be in some trouble if Landry get's hurt and Adams keeps under performing. Strengths: Good RB corp and LB corp that will help carry this team. Weaknesses: The lack of good sound depth at WR and at TE are very alarming for me here. A few injuries at WR or TE and this team could come up short of making the playoffs even.
7) Lions
As long as Stewart is healthy I see this team being in the top 3 to 7 pretty easily. I'm worried about the WR's a little. But the RB and TE, and DEF makes up for that a little bit. This team will surprise you with how steady it can be in consistently putting up points. It may not look like a lot on paper. But just some really sound players here overall. Strengths: I'd have to say that at RB, TE, and the solid defense on the bench and starting are a great foundation for this team Weaknesses: If this team doesn't have the WR corp build on previous years or Stewart gets hurt. This team might not have the firepower it did last year.
8) Vikings
As long as the key starting players stay healthy (Luck, Bernard, OBJ, and Yeldon) This team will be tough to beat. A lot to like here on this team at many positions. Luck getting hurt was a big downfall for this team last year. But some improvements have been made at other positions. So no reason Vikings can't be in the top 5-8. Strengths: RB starters and WR's are really good here. Luck could be in the top 5 if his line can keep him healthy so loving him as a strength too. Weaknesses: TE is a concern for me here. Not sure he has a solid top 20 TE he can count on. In addition to that he is an injury away at LB from having that as a major weakness too. Overall solid but not spectacular.
9) Buccaneers
Now even though my team finished in the top 4 (meaning making the playoffs and make it to the Conference championship I tried to have realistic expectations with this team still. Solid in a lot of positions. Has ascending players like Winston, Brate, Jerick Mckinnon, Diggs and Floyd. So enough fire power to really compete with a lot of players. DL and DB are a strength here too I think. So should be in the top 4 to 10 most of the season. Strength: WR and RB all solid starters with good depth. Weaknesses I'd have to say at LB and a little bit at TE with (Miller have some inj issues off and on.) Should be in contention most games.
10) Packers
I believe the 5-7 record for this team was a bit of an anomaly. I think with Packers getting Nelson back for ARod will be huge for this team. Julius Thomas and Jeremy Hill should be in a better position this year to contribute. I might be too low on this team but I think most weeks it will be in the top 5 to 10 rankings pretty easily. Strengths: The WR and QB corp is pretty huge for this team as well as RB too. Weaknesses: THE DL's and the TE's might hold this team back some weeks.
11) Patriots
You almost have to put this team in the top 12 just from having Gronk, and Tom Brady and a really good defense that this team has prided itself on for years in the DFL. This team usually beats teams based on just solid consistent performance. Has added some solid Rookies that should help in the near future. This team can't really be ranked too high due to a rash of injuries that have hurt some key players. Like Dion Lewis for starters. Strengths: The DB, and TE position and QB position should keep this team in the top 12 to 15 weeks. Weaknesses: RB is a big concern for me on this team with Lewis going down. But this team has a history of winning and being in the top 12 so not enough besides RB gives me reason for concern.
12) Browns
This team has made some good trades and drafted somewhat well for the time it has taken over this team. Has a lot to like at WR with Watkins and Nelson (as long as they stay healthy which is a slight concern based on reports out of camp.) The RB corp of Lacy and Doug Martin should be pretty formidable. This team just has a few flaws. The Defense is a big one for me. Overall I'd say it looks average at best. Strengths: RB and WR like I said before. If these players play to their potential we have seen and are healthy they will care this team. Weaknesses: The defense has some big holes for me here. I think at LB and DB I see this team have a lot of ups and downs.
Well I have to get up work early for training. So I will try by Wed to get the last 12 done on here. But this is a good sneak preview.
