Franchise Tags
-NEEDED TO BE ABLE TO FT: at least 1 FA1st & $8 cap space
**- 1 of each needed PRIOR to declaring your FT player
**- $8 cap space required for FT cap charge
If you have the above:
-You may choose to Franchise ONE (1) player each off-season (date TBD).
If you choose to do so:
-His salary for the next year will be the previous year's salary plus $8.
-You will lose your 1st FA Draft choice. (If you own more than 1 pick , you will the lose the HIGHEST pick in the round)
-You CANNOT Franchise a (particular) player more than once. You also may not trade him to a team, who Franchises him, and have him traded back.
-Only players scheduled to be an Unrestricted Free Agent (UFA) for that off-season are eligible for you to place Franchise Tag (FT) on.
-The deadline for players to sign a contract extension and avoid needing a FT falls one week (7 days) AFTER the NFL Super Bowl
-The following is the timeline for applying Franchise Tags:
*Begin: 1st Saturday of March
*End: 2 weeks later @ 11:59pm EST
