So now I can give a player to a friends team in the DFL if he's team needs help or has space?? Thx That is not even REMOTELY what is going on here. But sure if those two players help SF win the league this year I will take full ownership of looking like an idiot from my comment... This isn't any form of collusion by either team, it is a strategic move by Chicago to free roster space up to claim players since he did not have the roster space to make those claims. SF has the roster space to take flyers on the guys, and for taking the guys from Chicago, so he could make claims, SF got a 3rd for his trouble. I get the TRC concern, I really do, it can look a little fishy, but this type of trade happens in other leagues I am in and it does not hurt anyone, it is just a tool guys use to run their team.

I firmly believe in this trade’s legality, that it was win win for both teams, and am disappointed it did not pass. However, I do appreciate everyone’s consideration for this outside the box idea and the discussion it provoked. Neither of my players were claimed this week so hopefully I will be able to acquire them next week and you will have saved me a 3rd Rookie in 2021. Finally, apologies to SF. Hope to work with you more on trades in the future (with better results).

There have been instances in past where teams have traded players for picks just to have other team drop players. Only difference is Chicago is paying a 3rd to SF to cover the cap hits whereas in the previous instances teams were losing a pic and absorbing cap hits. While i understand the trade in principle im going to err on the side of caution and veto cause i dont want it to set a bad precedent going forward. The main difference being Chicago wasn’t receiving anything back directly from SF as “compensation” to make it a trade since SF technically wasn’t trading anything in exchange. It’s just as simple as a rule added that both teams in a trade need to be acquiring an actual piece (player or pick) back. Otherwise you’re not really making a trade
