Teams can bid once in the first 24 hours after a player is posted up. Bids are in .5 increments in first round. 2nd rd teams can bid any amount and as many times as they want within their cap restraints.
If you engage in bidding on a player and make drops afterwards the cap created can not be used on players you have bid on prior to drops.
Leading bids are factored into cap space so if you have $4 free but have three leading bids totalling $6 the bid that puts you over will be deemed invalid and eliminate you from bidding on the player the illegal bid stems from

developmentalfl.proboards.com/post/98370I have never understood part of this rule. At which point in time does 'drops made after a bid is placed to make room for a bid will make the bid invalid & drop remains' actually denote after? Is is during the bid, after winning the bid, during the offseason? Please define.

Always took it to mean, you had to officially have the cap space listed on your roster to cover the bid. Meaning you couldn’t bid and then make a drop to cover.. you’re right though. Could use some clarification

Could use some clarification This is part of it yes. We want guys to have the cap space available to make the bids, but the other half is we dont want guys making drops in the middle of a bidding war just to run up other owners ala the crazy bid early in our leagues history($17+ i think it was).

The way it is written, (or the way I see it) should you have $10 free and you bid up to $9.50 and win, you now have $0.50. A drop afterwards to free up additional monies knowing you spent almost your entire amount would be illegal. Dropping to make a bid.
Likewise, per the wording, it seems to me that dropping during the bidding is illegal in any regard. I’m not even adding the part ‘after’. What time should there be between bidding and dropping players?

If in your example that happens you certainly can drop players after you win to free up more. The issue we are looking to eliminate is guys dropping while at roster/cap space and throwing out bids.
If you arent involved in any active bids any posted drops will take effect immediately upon post. As long as drops are posted before a bid youre good and only need a one minute window.
Heres why i bring this up. We have two guys active in bids on multiple guys and made drops after initial bids on said players. Their rosters would reflect that extra cap if i processed the drops as usual which we have a rule against. One i didnt catch overnight but hes been outbid now so i let that go. The other is on verge of going over. Telling people they cant make drops once bidding starts isnt feasible for the reason you bring up so thats why if you see your drops taking a while to get adjusted its due to you(not you particularly but you in terms of whoevers reading this message) have active bids going and i try not to add that cap til that team is out or wins a bid.
If you're against the cap i flat out dont process it til all bids are final.. or like carolinas drop he had $24 free and his drop was $1. It got put through cause i dont see him bidding $24 on a guy.
Hope some of this makes your concerns clearer JR

I'll break it down using me as an example:
I have 3 roster spots, $6 in cap free.
I bid .5 on Sean Taylor, 4.5 on Montana, 1 on Ray Lewis.. legal
Same situation as above, but i drop Melvin Ingram after i bid on Taylor and raise my bid to $5.. by dropping during a bid my drop would be on hold thus not giving me the cap and my bid would put me over cap so i'd be eliminated from bidding on Sean.
Continuing to use my scenario, i win Taylor for .5 and Montana for 4.5. Im left with $1. I drop out on Ray. Now with no active bids i can drop Ingram and get his cap added to my available pool immediately and go bid $2 on Ed Reed
